Ophelia Fernandes, MBA
Board Director
Ophelia Fernandes is an HSEQ management and sustainability professional focused on creating positive organizational change and building inclusive systems. Based in St. John’s, she leads the newcomer women’s entrepreneurship initiative at NLOWE and, as a Fora: Rise on Boards Fellow, brings a young, equity-focused voice to the Board table.
Ophelia supports women entrepreneurs through tailored training, mentorship, and community partnerships. Previously, as Quality and Sustainability Coordinator at ASL Innovations, she led the Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification process and implemented ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems, improving operational efficiency and strengthening internal accountability.
An MBA graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a specialization in Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Ophelia balances business strategy with social impact. She is committed to advancing sustainability initiatives and equity-centred governance, bringing strategy and implementation experience to her role as Board Director.
