Equity Work in a Shifting Political Climate

You are cordally invited

As we close out the year, we invite our members to a small in-person gathering at Granville Island to connect, reflect, and look ahead together. Many of us are navigating a political and media climate that is becoming more adversarial toward equity work. This includes pressure from funders, public debates, and shifting narratives that shape how equity efforts are viewed and supported. This gathering offers a relaxed space to share what we are experiencing and think together about what we need to sustain this work.

We will meet at the café operated by Flavours of Hope inside Granville Island Public Market. The food is prepared by immigrant women entrepreneurs, and the space has a warm view of the Christmas market. Drinks and light appetizers will be provided.

What to expect
This is a small group conversation, not a formal workshop. The flow of the afternoon will be:
– Welcome and introductions
– Conversation on equity work in the current political climate
– Open conversation and networking
The focus will be on listening, sharing, and identifying what feels most important to carry into the year ahead.
